Hey! Thanks for stumbling on my little corner of the internet, wonderful to have you here. Cozy up, grab some chai, and feel free to find out a bit more...about me.

My Bio

So a little about me. I'm Anshul Aggarwal. I'm a builder, content creator, but above all, a community maker. I'm passionate about making each person's lives just a bit happier.

Currently I work at Affirm as a Capital Originations Engineer (making sure the millions of dollars of loans that go through Affirm each day actually get originated as a loan). In the past I've worked with genetics as a Data Engineer Intern at Helix, fiddled with CRM as a Software Engineer Intern at Microsoft, and led large scale construction projects as a Project Manager at Gordon Prill. I'm a 2018 Engineering Fellow with Kleiner Perkins, and C20 at Contrary Talent.

I'm a UCLA grad who's heart is all over California. Through it all, I've been proud to build communities around tech, entrepreneurship, and creativity through founding and leading organizations at UCLA like Bruin Entrepreneurs, LA Hacks, and Creative Labs.

On the personal side, I'm an aspiring plant father, humming bird lover, and guitar player who occasionally surfs every other weekend. If you ever want someone to do any of the above with, well, send me an email!

Questions for the World

Inspired largely by deep thinking friends of mine, there's a running list of questions I'm always obsessed with. Below is a frequently updated list of my most burning questions. If you have been thinking about any of these questions or have any ideas, let me know on twitter, my brain is wracked.

How do we incentivize humans to do good?

Our current society is structured around incentives, where we rig the game so heavily that its favorable for people to do the "right thing" over the "wrong thing". I also believe these incentives have gone so far to lead to many of the problems we're facing today: Civil Rights Atrocities, wealth inequality, inequity in justice to name a few. As an entrepreneur, how can I build companies, communities, or cultures that incentivize people to "do good"?

How do we harness human evolution?

The advent of social media in all its forms, in my opinion, is one step towards a massively large massively interconnected singular human brain. I think the way humans are evolving we've built stronger and stronger social connections, making our number of possible stable human connections skyrocket. In connection though, evolution does not occur at the rate of technological progress. Is it possible to reap these benefits in a shorter time scale?

What is meaningful?

Society ranks some things as arbitrarily good, murky, or arbitrarily bad in some cases. How do we come to conclusions of good, bad, murky, and meaningful? What are our criteria if there are any, and is it possible to understand intrinsic motivations of people?

Are there categories of logical styles?

I've been obsessed with the idea that everyone has different ways of ingesting information. The simplest example of this is Inductive vs. Deductive reasoning, and often arguments between the two types of people will get nowhere because while they may be speaking the same language on the surface, their logical styles differ dramatically. Is it possible to identify plainly another's communication style, and be able to "speak" it fluently?
